Services

  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective and evidence-based mental health treatment that can help heal the effects of trauma and distressing life experiences. EMDR was originally developed by Francine Shapiro, PhD, in the 1980’s to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and is now widely used for a variety of other conditions as well including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance use disorders, chronic pain, eating disorders, low self esteem, and severe stress.

Research has shown that EMDR can often result in faster progress than traditional talk therapy because it incorporates methods that access the areas of your brain that store and process memories, allowing for both the desensitization of the traumatic memory and for new neural connections to be strengthened.
